Singer and multi-instrumentalist Scott Perrie and guitar/banjo player Jeremy Breaks have been perfecting their collaborative craft since they met at an open jam in Vancouver. Both came from musical backgrounds, Perrie through the theatre and his grandfathers ‘61 Gibson J45, and Breaks through growing up in his father’s music store in Prince George. The duo’s musical vision came together with their acclaimed 2009 debut The Leap, and in 2010 they recorded an EP, entitled Meet You On The Other Side with the popular upbeat track “Like Penguins Do”. These days Redgy Blackout are producing their best material yet, bringing a united focus and dedication to the music they create, and collaborating with top notch musicians.

The new, Redgy Blackout EP is a collection of 6 original songs of rock your pants off (“Bottom Of The Sea”), pure pop folk (“100 Cigarettes”) and heartfelt songwriting (“Once Knew You”). It’s a testament to the musicianship of the members of Redgy Blackout and their devotion to the craft; it displays a comfort and maturity with songwriting and composition with a sense these guys really like to have fun. The Redgy Blackout EP is their third recording, released officially July 15, 2011, and was produced by Elisa Pangsaeng, mixed by Tom Dobrzanski (Said The Whale, The Zolas) and recorded at Vertical and Blue Wave Studios in Vancouver. In exchange for studio time, members of the band got together to help build a new studio for Dobrzanski.

Here’s a little potted history of Fink, from 2006 ‘til today. Some might see it differently, this is how we remember it…

BISCUITS – I guess this current incarnation of Fink all started when Guy said he was up for playing bass on a few tracks (‘So Long’ on Biscuits For Breakfast being the first I think) and Tim, over beers at a pub in Hampstead, was persuaded to play drums on a few (his first being probably the title track ‘Biscuits’). Then Ninja Tune released Biscuits in 2006, and the track ‘Pretty Little Thing’ kinda struck a chord out there for some reason. So we toured, and toured and toured, learning and playing, playing and learning… We packed a tent at Lowlands festival in Holland, we sold out La Maroquinerie in Paris and Joe’s Pub in New York City, we played from the USA to Poland and everywhere in-between.

DISTANCE – When we were through learning what a soundcheck was, we wrote Distance And Time in 2007. It has some really solid tracks we think: ‘Blueberry Pancakes’, ‘If Only’ (which led to me working with John Legend), and particularly ‘This Is The Thing’, which continues to give us love not only as a decent song but also as a sync machine… Timmy took a break to pursue real life for a moment, so we toured quite a lot of Distance with Adrian the Canadrian (seen rocking out in the video section at the Haldern festival in Germany). We kinda turned to Europe big time as the UK was ignoring us a little… Radio 1 was great, but the press didn’t want to know… So we toured Europe, and loved it, so we toured it again… supporting Camille and Massive Attack, playing huge amphitheatres and everywhere from LA to Cape Town, the Albert Hall to Carnegie Hall… it was awesome….

REVOLUTION – We stopped touring Distance and went straight into the studio. Well, I say studio, but we wanted to take it somewhere else… somewhere maybe more intimate… so we converted my apartment into a recording studio-cum-storage ground, and after several visits and threats of fines from Brighton Council we delivered Sort Of Revolution in 2009, the tricky third set. We loved dub and hadn’t really represented that on previous outings so we nailed ‘Sort Of Revolution’ and ‘Q&A’ – the former gaining us our first KCRW session in LA, the second our first BBC Maida Vale session for Gilles Peterson (perhaps the last DJ on Radio 1 we expected to like our stuff). This record saw us really start to play bigger, and after all the TV stuff the fame game was beginning to kick in, which was and still is a little weird… We really did tour the shit our of this album, including a mind-bending China tour, finishing up in Australia with one of our fave gigs ever I think, at The Corner Hotel in Melbourne….

PERFECT DARKNESS – So we took a little hiatus: a bit of writing time, put our lives back together a little bit… During all of the above Timmy wrote a few books (available now on Random House: they’re about bands… lots of famous musos from the 90’s love ‘em…. if you even know what a ‘neddy’ is you’ll love ‘em too). We recorded a couple of Sideshow albums for Aus Music, and I wrote a load of songs for other people. We really needed a few months off… we all got fat and lazy and it was great…. then we travelled to Los Angeles in November 2010 for a blitzkrieg recording session in Steakhouse studios with Billy Bush. We had 8 tracks written and roughly planned out, plus two to do on the ground once there… y’know, kinda soak up the atmosphere as well as the Mexican junk food… We nailed the whole record from start to finish in 16 days – a feat that I think surprised the producer as much as us… we wanted to nail some hardcore blues (‘Wheels’) and some big tracks (‘Fear Is Like Fire’) as well as a stringy epic (‘Perfect Darkness’). We’re pretty amped about the whole album… It comes out in June 2011 (September in the US)… See you there, back out on the road… new set, new songs, loving it….

BIO: Simon Fagon

An American sound with elements of Gospel, folk and acoustic rock, with comparisons to Ryan Adams, Ray Lamontagne and Paolo Nuttini; The truth is I grew up on a diet of Credence, Van Morrison, Miles Davis, Lizzy, Pink Floyd, and some Stevie for good measure. However, my influences stretch well beyond these icons.

My love for music started when I was very young, joining my local choir, followed by the local brass band and then on to school and Uni where I studied both Music and Trumpet. I also got to play with Irish Youth Orchestra of Ireland for a few years.

After college I came very close to joining the army brass band but failed to show up to the drug test! I know what you're thinking, but the actual fact is, I found the whole thing very formal and regimented. I wasn't looking for a pension job, but something more adventurous, where I could take my own risks and be in control.

I had been singing and playing guitar with a number of bands since I was 13 so the natural progression was to put my hand to writing my own music. In the last few years I have developed both as a songwriter and performer. For the first time ever, I can say with hand on heart, that I feel truly happy with the sound that's emerging. This is helped by a great backing band, who really get the music and make rehearsals and gigging seem effortless. I've had the pleasure of opening for the likes of Lionel Richie, Smokey Robbinson, Laura Izibor and more recently Ocean Colour Scene. In the last 18 months I've toured heavily throughout Ireland and the UK and even ventured as far as US, Canada and Egypt where the response was overwhelming.

I released a 4 track EP in March '09 called 'Hired and Fired' featuring brass and woodwind. As I started touring the EP my sound naturally moved away from the brass heavy arrangements and towards a more acoustic rock sound. Much of the new songs I was writing, were more acoustic based and didn't benefit from adding brass or woodwind.Â It was also during this period that I formed a permanent band. Up until know I had called in friends and session players to perform with me.

Having a regular band allowed the songs to develop naturally from gig to gig and by the time we entered the studio to record the album the overall sound was there, if a few songs were still unwritten!

The album 'Outside Looking In' was released in June this year in Ireland and online and is available to buy, in those places where you go to buy music. The album includes "Damn Honey", "Memphis" and "Love Don't Work", which have all just been shortlisted for this years International Songwriting Competition and last years winner of the Performance category "Never Really Cried"

Sydney's The Preachers are fast becoming one of BobbySix.com's favourite up-and-coming bands. After almost a year together, an EP and some tentative interest from labels that weren't quite their cup of tea, they've decided to spend the next six months recording and releasing demos.

It's entitled The 66 Project and, like all good ideas, it's a pretty straightforward one. They plan to record and release as many high-quality demos (at least one a month) over the next six months, make everything free, and document the process.

The 66 Project officially begins in December but, in the meantime, the ever-generous bunch are kicking off by giving away their rather fine debut EP for free. They’re also releasing two offcuts from the EP, Young and Fictional Lover as free downloads.

Considering this is a band that are all about the songs rather than sticking to a genre or capturing a specific sound, their upcoming demo releases are sure to be pretty diverse, from acoustic folk and dark country to full-blown dirty-as-hell rock 'n' roll. So keep an eye on their 66 Project blog. After all, you can't ask for more than constant flow of high-quality, free music over the next few months.

Our music is inspired by space, travel (...) by listening to our music, we want people to be carried away to an imaginary place where everything's controlled through the natural equilibrium of the universe

In 2006, some friends got together to have fun doing what they liked doing most: making music. Rapidly, they started writing their own songs and soon realized they were ready to take their music to the next level. Influenced by a wide range of bands like Sigur Ros, Depeche Mode, Dead Can Dance; to U2, Pink Floyd and Radiohead, they decided to call themselves "Utter" and started working on their first album.. The word «utter», meaning "total, complete, infinite and extreme", embodies their aspiration to deliver an incomparable music experience to their fans through original songs and unique sounds.

In 2007, two of Utter's songs were quickly playlisted on "Radio Comercial", one of Portugal's biggest Stations. In 2008, Utter had already self-produced their first album entitled "Utter", distributed nationally by Compact Records. Their first album gained momentum throughout the country, which got them an invite to the radio station "Radar FM" in Lisbon, to present their newly released album, which by then was also available in stores like FNAC. Utter then embarked on their first National Tour.

In June 2009, Giliano, Zezén, Humberto, André and João started the production of their second album, which was completed in april of 2010. The album was mixed at the QM Studioaudio in Vila Nova de Gaia (Portugal) by the well known Portuguese musician and producer João Ferraz, On November 18th 2010 Utter decided to release a single off the Album while talks with Labels and plans for the future took shape. "Into the Light" was released through AWAL (artists without a label) and the single went straight to radio playlists including National Radio Antena 3 and many others.

Recently Utter released a free download entitled "first trip" which was released exclusively on the website of Antena 3 as well as exclusives on Supajam in the UK and on websites in America and other countries: Plans for the Album release are being discussed as the band continue to look at interested labels. . It may come as a surprise to hear the foot-stomping strains of Appalachian bluegrass channeled through a rock band here in Los Angeles, but heartache, loss and regret have always been the cornerstones of great music and this city has its share. In a town better known for porn stars and face lifts, anything as authentic and heartfelt as Rose's Pawn Shop, is a pleasant surprise.

Singer-songwriter Paul Givant grew up on the disparate array of popular musical styles any late 20th century kid did. And in that mishmash of rock, punk, country, pop, rap, and all the rest, it was American Folk and Bluegrass music that rooted deepest in Paul, transforming him and his songs. Having played in various rock bands since early high school, in 2004 Paul decided it was time to take his growing batch of old style/new school folk songs, and build them into something greater, more ferocious. The songs were there, volatile, almost flammable, but if they were to attain their potential greatness, he was going to need help.

As so many fortuned events unfold, it was through a series of chance meetings, twists of fate, and Craig's List, that Paul met kindred spirits in Sebastian St. John, Derek O'Brien, Bill Clark, Derek Swenson, and John Kraus. And in 2005 they began building the music and the band that would soon be known as Rose's Pawn Shop. This group of young musicians combined in their collective musical melting pot the old style American sounds of Woody Guthrie, Bill Monroe, and Hank Williams, the high energy punk of The Ramones, and The Pogues, and the melodic songwriting sensibilities of Elliott Smith and The Beatles. They were creating something musically unique and yet imbued with a familiarity and accessibility.

The final ingredient was added one fateful day when Paul's scorned ex-girlfriend/former band mate in an act of revenge stole the band's instruments and gear and took them down to the local pawn shop. Priceless. Rose's Pawn Shop was born... The match was lit.

In spring of 2006 after months of playing live and breaking ground around Los Angeles, the band recorded and released their debut album "The Arsonist". The album quickly began receiving critical praise from print and online publications as varied as "About.com", "The Daily News", "Miles of Music", and "Music Connection". A month after its release, Rose's Pawn Shop showcased and won the grand prize in Billboard Magazine and Discmaker's: Independent Music World Series. And in the summer of that year, the members of Rose's Pawn Shop dared to quit their day jobs and hit the road, and what had started as a slow and steady burn, began spreading like wildfire.

They have been touring the United States nearly non-stop ever since. On any given day you might find Rose's Pawn Shop playing the Georgia Theatre in Athens, busking the streets of Jackson Square in New Orleans, opening for Jack White and The Raconteurs at the Henry Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles, ripping the walls off the club in their month long residency at the Parkside Lounge in New York City, or hitting the main stage of Floydfest in Virginia. On any given day they're out there, growing their music, igniting their passion, and converting an ever increasing congregation of loyal fans.

In early 2010, Rose's Pawn Shop entered the studio with renowned producer Ethan Allen (Patty Griffin, Better Than Ezra, Counting Crows, Luscious Jackson, The 88, Gram Rabbit) to record the second album, "Dancing On the Gallows." In recording the new record, Rose's Pawn Shop found themselves rising to new level song craft and sound experimentation, while retaining the same fiery intensity and excitement of their early material. The highly anticipated album is slated for an early August 2010 release.

What do they sound like, you ask?

With an arsenal of banjos, guitars, mandolin, fiddle, pedal steel, upright bass, and thundering drums, their sound is a wholesome mishmash of creek mud, rusty nails and your mom's cookin'. It's sincere, straight-forward and sexy as fuck, effortlessly combining such disparate musical styles as rock, country, bluegrass, and punk to create an incomprehensibly smooth and accessible sound for true believers and skeptics alike.

With wisdom beyond their years, they fearlessly confront traditional country music themes of loss, lamentation, and redemption, while throwing in some drinking-songs for good measure. Sure, they're borrowing pages from the books of Hank Williams, Bill Monroe, and Johnny Cash, but Rose's Pawn Shop takes those pages, tears them up and sets them on fire with breakneck speed, bluegrass instrumentation, 3- and 4- part vocal harmonies and lyrics that'll break your heart.

Whether it's the dreamy snake-charm-thump of "Lone Rider," the wistful whisky-soaked wisdom of "Down The Line," the honky-tonk ruckus of "Funeral Pyre," or the Gypsy-infused mandolin twang of "Reckoning," Rose's Pawn Shop will hook you. Like catfish from the creek, they'll reel you in. And they won't let you go.

And you'll be glad they did.

Because something happens when you hear these songs. No matter how low you've sunk, something in the music finds you. It picks you up and carries you home.

Time Out NY attests, Brooklyn’s “My Cousin, the Emperor makes happily gnarly music; The band’s debut album, A Long Way from Home, trades in rolling country rock & roll.” My Old Kentucky Blog calls it, “Filled to the brim with both alone-in-the-pouring-rain ballads and throw-me-another-whiskey barroom romps” and Under the Radar Magazine declares, “My Cousin, The Emperor stands up for all that's still right with the genre of country.”

The accolades continued when the title track from their debut won the Independent Music Award for ‘Best Alternative Country Song of the Year’ and the quartet won the crown for Brooklyn in WNYC’s “Battle Of The Boroughs.” MY COUSIN, THE EMPEROR follow up their first offering with the release of a single disc, double EP entitled, THE SUBWAY EPs on March 29, 2011.

Volume I of the set is the acoustic PROSPECT PARK WEST and Volume II is the electric BROADWAY-LAFAYETTE, named after lead singer, guitarist and songwriter Jason Reischel’s two main stops between Brooklyn and Manhattan. Think of it as the mirrored counterpart to Dylan’s Bringing It All Back Home.

In Noid, a tiny hamlet situated to the south west of Bath, some of the most dangerous and ill sounding beats and riffs are being created by four wolf like personalities.

The Heavy started out ripping and chopping beats from the likes of Bo Diddley, Little Walter and The Parliaments and fusing them with their now patented brand of high grade dirt. Guitar riffs that intoxicate, bass lines that reverberate around your head like a King Jammy dream and vocals that will challenge any of the genres they decide to take on.

The Heavy continually cross genres as they as a unit are proud to be completely musically schizophrenic. From country to rhythm and blues, garage punk to rock and roll, Studio one to the slums of shaolin, you'll find that The Heavy are indeed like a pack of chemists with the way that genres get cooked up, blended, stirred and then mixed, to create their own unique style of rock and roll.

The album Great Vengeance and Furious Fire released on Counter Records in late 2007 generated a great deal of interest with songs like That kind of man, Girl, Set me free, Coleen and Dignity, firmly laying foundations for the house of dirt that they are building at present. There is no other band that sounds as raw as The Sonics while holding soul in a headlock and frequently wrestling rock to the ground with the weight of Mr 808 as tag team partner. The Hooks were born in a Church Hall in Rosses Point, Co. Sligo, Ireland by the two Mulligan brothers (Nigel & Keith). Ronan muscled his way in later on while Nigel slipped out the side door.

The Hooks recorded a 4 song demo at JAM Studios which led to a session on Irish National radio, 2FM, for Ireland's version of John Peel, Dave Fanning.

Shane MacGowan got wind of 'The Hooks' and in his own eloquent way asked them to join him for two separate Irish tours.

In search of new experiences, The Hooks left for San Francisco, where we find them today.

Gigs with many musical luminaries include: The Pogues, X, The Stiff Little Fingers, The Bravery, Flogging Molly,The Corona's, The Filthy Thieving Bastards, Me First & The Gimme Gimmes.

Vacillating between the agit-driven punk rock they are famous for interspersed with galloping Irish trad(played fast loud,and sometimes Gaelic)with a twist. The Hooks recorded two EP's (10,000 Feet EP & Irish Punk Rock Anthems) at NOFX's Motor Studio's with Jamie McMann. The album tracks are in the can, it's just a matter of mixing and mastering.

The Hooks just recently returned from great success at SXSW playing The Mohawk in Austin and winning celebrity fans such as Tricky and Drew Barrymore (lovely lady).

BIO: Patrick Park

Patrick Park is a Colorado native that grew up outside of Denver, surrounded by words and music. His mother is a published poet, and his father played folk and blues on the guitar around the house. “I’ve written songs since I was a kid,” he says. “There was nothing else that I really wanted to do—I was obsessed with it. I pretty much decided at the age of 13 or 14 that this was what I wanted to do.” Now with three EPs and two full lengths to his name, Patrick Park is set to release his strongest set of songs yet with the new Come What Will lp.

Patrick Park’s ernest start at becoming a songwriter came sometime around 2000 when living in Los Angeles with a batch of songs that he decided to demo. He lacked the money to go into a studio, but that didn’t deter him. “I ended up recording in the back of a store that a friend’s girlfriend owned. I sang all the vocals on my knees inside of this couch cushion hut that we built because there was a cricket in the room and it kept bleeding into the microphone. It was August and it was hot and horrible,” Park laments.

With his first album underway, Park began playing solo shows in LA, and the local press immediately reacted. His fellow artists took notice as well, as he opened shows for the likes of Richard Buckner and Gomez. Beth Orton handpicked Park as the supporting act on her U.S. tour. Hollywood Records also took notice, and signed Patrick. While recording for the major label, Badman Recording Co. released Park’s gorgeous, well received, six song EP: Under the Unminding Skies.

Park released his first lp Loneliness Knows My Name in 2003 (Hollywood Records) and immediately hit the road, touring with My Morning Jacket, David Grey, Liz Phair, The Thrills, Rachel Yamagata, Granddaddy and more. As the album drew praise from critics, Patrick won over crowds show by show with his intimate, nuanced live performance.

Problems with Hollywood Records quickly appeared and began to challenge the future of Park’s next album as they stalled giving the go ahead to record new tracks. He recalls, “I think they were either waiting for me to try to jump ship or turn in a Hillary Duff song about sexy text messages. I ended up recording a whole new record without them knowing. When it was done I left it on my A&R guys doorstep with a note that said just said "this is my second record". I think that he was amused, but it's fair to say nobody else was.”

After enduring the long process of getting off Hollywood, Patrick finally released Everyone’s in Everyone in 2007. Park worked with several producers including Dave Trumfio, (Built to Spill, Wilco), Rob Schapf (Elliott Smith, Beck) and Chris Stamey (Whiskeytown). The albumwas well received, making several year-end Best Of lists, lead off track, “ Life Is A Song” was featured as the final song on The O.C, and viewed by over eight million people and the second single “Here We Are” was one of Stereogum’s most downloaded tracks of 2007.

As on his first two records, Park returned to working with his friend, producer Dave Trumfio in creating Come What Will. “On this record, I would write a song and then immediately go into the studio and record them when they were super fresh and new. A few songs were recorded at home in one take in the middle of the night- in the same room where my girlfriend was asleep. Topically, I feel like there is a strong thread of redemption and a rebirth that runs through a lot of these songs -mixed in with a healthy dose of regret and the odd bit of "oh fuck , the world is falling apart,” Park reveals. Come What Will is set for an April 6th release date on Badman Recording Co. Patrick Park will be touring Spring-Fall 2010 in support of the album.

There’s a scene in Dostoevsky’s Brothers Karamazov where the main characters Ivan and Alyosha discuss the existence of God. Ivan, in particular, questions the idea of God. Alyosha, on the other hand, is a monk, a believer, some may say, a holy fool.

Talk of faith and exalted things is rare in indie rock today. Enter Seattle band Ivan & Alyosha. Throughout their second release, the five song Fathers Be Kind EP, the band chart their own course between divinity and disbelief.

“I left my family and my home/to fight the battle on my own

I stole a car and drove away/but in my hate St. Paul did say

‘Glorify the Lord above/with your drink and making love

Glorify the Lord my son, with your whisky and your gun.”

Ivan & Alyosha began as the solo outlet for Tim Wilson but in spring 2007 the band formed after Tim met Ryan Carbary through a former band mate and mutual friend. Ryan and Tim began playing and recording together and a trip to Los Angeles to work with Eli Thompson (Richard Swift, Delta Spirit) spawned the name Ivan & Alyosha. According to Tim, Thompson is a huge Dostoevsky fan and the name stuck. With that, Wilson and Carbary released The Verse, The Chorus, their debut EP on Cheap Lullaby Records (Joan as Police Woman, The Silver Seas, Teitur). The stand out track “Easy To Love” earned NPR Song of the Day honors as “a propulsive, sweetly booming ode to love as a feat of endurance.”

The name Ivan & Alyosha is apt for a band cutting its teeth. As Ivan in Brothers Karamazov moves through the novel with doubts, Ivan & Alyosha navigate the indie rock world contemplating their path as a band. Tim says he writes songs about what’s current in his life. He recently married and had a son. Songs like “Living for Someone” and “Fathers Be Kind,” reflect Ivan & Alyosha grappling with the idea of being in a band and trying to fashion a career. Not only to follow their dreams but to earn a livelihood and support their families; a feeling he expresses in the former song, “Expecting our first child / Amid the great recession”. Despite the uncertainty, Ivan & Alyosha’s soulful folk tunes suggest a band inspired, hopeful and longing; a band unafraid to probe their collective faith and doubts.

Plus, things are different this time around. Tim and Ryan are joined by two others – Tim Kim and Pete Wilson, Tim’s brother. The band built a studio in a barn at Ryan’s parent’s house in Snohomish, 45 minutes outside of Seattle. Snohomish provides an idyllic setting with a charming main street lined by bars and little distraction. Self-recording their upcoming EP allows the guys more time together to create and perfect the new songs.

In the Brothers Karamazov, when Ivan asks Alyosha to renounce his beliefs, Alyosha refuses. Rather, he kisses Ivan on the lips. Seattle’s Ivan & Alyosha are not nihilist indie rockers but a new brand of tender dreamers. And non-believers be damned! God, or no God - these guys are no holy fools. They have their music to prove it.

Parisian Lead singer Nina Courson teamed up with British guitarist Phil Honey-Jones just over a year ago to set about writing and recording one song for a close friend’s birthday. The song entitled Glam sister turned out to be the first of many songs, and before long bass player Tjay Tarantino and drummer Steve Nightmare were on board and Healthy Junkies were born. Taking their influences from a fine blend of genres they are forging ahead and discovering their own unique style. Healthy Junkies are a reaction to the dominance of processed, same sounding pop music in the U.K.

The first release is the debut single “Copycat”. The song was born through a dispute between 2 Parisian girls (both in the video) over the theft of music and words, the making of the video reconciled them in real life with the help of feathers and knives.. The video was filmed and edited by Steve Walker. The debut album entitled “Sick Note” is now available for download on i-tunes, spotify etc.

Healthy Junkies and Banana Castle Records are part of the new generation of DIY underground. They have their own crowd, playing live regularly with other bands from the same melting pot of genres, all the time gaining followers and momentum at live shows in London and recently a short tour of France

Oh, my love, this is the beginning… It certainly is the beginning of a new chapter for Josh and Nicole Johnson as they combine their passion and raw talent to form Elenowen (pronounced “ellen-owen”) after their national debut on NBC’s “The Voice.” Hailing from Nashville, TN, Josh and Nicole pursued individual careers before forming the indie/pop duo that sings through the journeys of everyday life and the many battles it brings. Their music emphasizes heavy harmonies, raw acoustics, and ambient elements that combine to create a unique mood and sound that comes as an honest breath of fresh air in an overly manufactured music world.

After about a year of living paycheck-to-paycheck working at the same local coffee shop, Josh and Nicole started pursuing their dream by creating their debut album, Pulling Back the Veil (released January 2010). Pulling Back the Veil is a collection of eight original songs, written both individually and collaboratively to paint a picture of the road they have been on for the past year – a road filled with internal struggles to know truth, joyous triumphs through desire, and the awakening adjustments to married life.

In forming Elenowen, Josh and Nicole felt called to not necessarily give answers or guide the listener, but to be honest and as real and vulnerable as possible. One quick listen to their music reveals Elenowen’s uncanny ability to move past the surface and into the heart. Growing up in the rich literary and religious environment of Mississippi, and then moving straight into the country-soaked musical world of Nashville, Trent Dabbs has many stories to tell. Like Flannery O’Connor with her short story collection, A Good Man Is Hard To Find, Dabbs pieces his own spiritual and relational questions into well crafted folk-pop albums. The ghosts of Johnny Cash, old gospel-choirs, Neil Young, and Nick Drake are heard roaming the halls of Trent’s songs.

This is especially true with Southerner, Dabbs' sixth full-length record to date. This album is both a return and a departure. The album is a return to Trent's heritage, and recalls how the South has shaped his art, but the tone is also a slight departure from his previous pop and rock-driven songwriting. The track titled, “Leave To See”, the first song written for the album, fittingly describes the paradox of more clearly seeing your home from a different place, a different perspective. Trent says that on Southerner he, “wanted to peel back the layers . . . and portray ten separate stories that have been woven into my southern life”.

An artist with a unique business sense, Trent Dabbs has forged his way through an ever-changing music industry by uniting some of Nashville’s best up-and-coming musicians in a touring and recording collective called, Ten Out of Tenn. Many of these artists such as Erin McCarley, Andrew Belle, Katie Herzig and Joy Williams (The Civil Wars), among others, have gone on to have critically and commercially successful careers as performers and songwriters.

Trent’s own songs have been featured on television shows such as Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Hawaii Five-0, One Tree Hill, Pretty Little Liars, Vampire Diaries and many others as well as in feature films. Despite these successes, Trent remains a humble and avid supporter of his fellow musicians, and anyone who is looking to create authentic art. As noted in Athens Blur, “as beautiful as the talent Trent Dabbs helps introduce to the masses, it’s his own music that merits the most attention.”

Trent’s desire is that his audience will take the time to listen to Southerner as a whole. Though many of the tracks stand on their own, and will surely find their way as snippets into scripts and onto screens, it is the story that concerns Trent the most. Our generation is one of ADD and instant gratification. Maybe what we need is to shut out the rest of the world, sit on the porch with a glass of tea, take a deep breath in, and just listen.

The Band was created in the autumn of 2007 when a drummer Željko Stanisavljević responded to an add by a guitarist Sava Jović, concerning the foundation of a serious band. The band was intended to be in the realm of progressive rock/metal genre, mostly influenced by bands such as "Pain of Salvation" and "Dream Theater". The search for musicians started as well as rehearsals. During the period of one year, the band was working hard and as a result, a mini EP “Leaving Behind” was recorded in the winter of 2008/09. The EP contains four songs. Even though there were serious problems with stability of the line-up (a guitarist, a bassist and four keyboardists were replaced), the band is now in a stable setting and a promotional tour across Serbia has recently started out. Also, the band is still searching for an adequate keyboardist and vocals, so that they can present themselves in the best possible way

Boston, Massachusetts – February 4, 2011 – Dymaxion Vehicle is excited to announce the January release of its forthcoming album Design recorded at Little Blackwing Studio.

Design is the debut album from multi-instrumentalist/producer/songwriter and pop strategist Bill Hemp AKA “Gothboy.” Dymaxion Vehicle [pronounced: dy-mak-see-uhn] blends synths, guitars, polyrhythmic beats, and programming with contributions from a variety of vocalists creating a unique sonic blend of ethereal textures by way of a pop approach.

The Boston-based, electronic pop project Dymaxion Vehicle was born in 2008. Bill Hemp, the artist at the helm of the project comments:

“The original intent for Design was inspired by some of the synth pop pioneers I came to adore such as; Kraftwork, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, Erasure and Recoil. Those groups changed the concept of traditional bands. You were no longer beholden to being in a room with three or four other musicians at the same time in order to make music. You could essentially create a lush, dynamic sound from your home studio.

Having been in traditional bands for so many years, I felt the need for a fresh approach; creating electronic music using only a vocalist and myself. Alan Wilder did this with Recoil after he left Depeche Mode and it struck me as an excellent idea. I also always loved what Alan Parsons did with the Alan Parsons Project using different singers on different albums. As I began writing songs for Design, I incorporated these influences.”

Hemp, originally from Long Island, New York, played in local bands prior to attending Emerson College in Boston. Once entrenched in the Boston music scene he co-founded The Einstein Experience as vocalist and co-guitarist. After the Einstein Experience disbanded in 1991, Hemp continued playing with a series of popular Boston alternative bands including Medicinal James and Sweetie. “Those more traditional experiences provided the framework and building blocks for the type of music I now create. From a musical perspective, all that I learned while in those bands is now a part of my toolkit, and those “tools” both inform and inspire.”

Hemp shifted gears in 1997 embracing midi and computer technology, delving into the world of electronic production. Dymaxion Vehicle was born out of that intention primarily as a studio project that would actively seek out and feature a diverse array of vocalists, although Hemp also remixes, produces and programs for other artists; his pop/disco remix of "I Feel High” (Higher Gothboy Mix) was featured on the 2008 Divasonic release “Girationz Luv & High.”

About the meaning behind the name Hemp explains, “I’m an avid reader of the New Yorker and happened upon a story about the brilliant architect and inventor Buckminster Fuller. When I saw the name ‘Dymaxion’ I thought it sounded futuristic, which I liked, and ‘Vehicle’ which, to me, represents the carrying out of ideas. It’s as if the name is saying, “Get on the vehicle and let’s see what we come up with,” which is a lot like the process of how I make music.”

For the release of Design, Hemp partnered with vocalists in his Boston environs and beyond, giving each collaborator a wide range of creative wiggle room, and thus the opportunity to put their own stamp on Dymaxion Vehicle’s songs.

“On Eulogy, for example, after I tracked guide vocals, I sent them—either as stereo files or the Pro Tools session—to Greg Giradrin, he tracked his vocals and then I asked him to do a melisma in a certain part of the song, as well as some haunting, sustained stuff. But all the lead and background vocals he did himself, and he completed them in just three days. It was just great working with Greg.

Honestly, the most difficult part of the process was picking the right singer to match a particular song. But all the vocalists were terrific and they all brought a distinctive lyrical quality to the songs.”

The multi-vocalist lineup for Design features Boston-based Jamie Leigh Green, Sarah Moorehead, Greg Girardin, Kerry Kelley, Z-mark, Emily Unverferth, Layne Paige, Tigerlily frontwoman T. Lily Low, as well as Tracey Inkson (from Scotland/UK) and Lynda Arnold (of the Oakland, California based Divasonic).

The CD has been described as, “Ethereal and unpredictable pop, poised between gothic rock and dance.” There’s a shared searing pathos behind each of the female vocalists’ performances; and Hemp elicits and enhances this finely nuanced lyrical dynamic delivering a vast range of expression within each track.

Hemp adds, “Design’s material evokes feelings of love and loss, lust and alienation, mortality and magic spells. Themes covered include social commentary on Watergate and emerging environmental threats. The album also features an ambient instrumental “Quantum In Spectral” and a cover of the Pet Shop Boys classic "West End Girls.””

Design, with its hypnotically synthesized alt-rock flavor, scintillating rhythms and pulsating enigmatic and dark sensual vibe, captures the essence of mystery and leaves the listener begging for more.

What you notice first about Eric Colville is his voice, which is reminiscent of Pat DiNizio of The Smithereens, or Evan Dando of The Lemonheads. Neither comparison, however, captures the versatility and power of Colville’s vocals. Whether he’s being defiant, introspective, or campy – depending on the song – his voice grabs you and keeps you listening.

Despite having vocals this good, the real genius of Colville’s work lies in his lyrics. Every composition contains rhymes that sound perfectly natural – and then persist in your head for days. What are the songs about? They’re always about something. Clearly, Colville is in his element when mining the pleasures and frustrations of relationships. Back to Bed is a sultry invitation for a Sunday morning. Picture Us Together and DMMLY both rock, but while one revels in the thrill of feeling sure about someone, the second conveys the ambivalence of post-breakup sexual encounters. Then there’s the frenetic alt-country 12-Step Program, a wildly singable and danceable tune.

Colville’s nuanced songcraft is even more evident when he’s treating non-relationship themes. Two iridescently beautiful numbers are Wind on a Wire and 35 & Thinking. One describes a momentary glimpse of a young woman ice-skating on a pond; the other contemplates the ugly possibility that it may be time to give up on a long-cherished dream. In contrast, Man I Am, an over-the-top rant against conventions about what we’re “supposed to” do, is impossible not to move your body to. On whatever topic he chooses, Colville manages to deliver a fresh take along with a winning melody.

OK, so what can you expect from an Eric Colville song? Count on his great voice and smart lyrics, a good groove, and some first-rate musicianship and production. The rest is less predictable. Colville’s songs range from playful pop to torchy blues to dark ballads to in-your-face rock. What mood will the next track put you in? Which situation will he take aim at now? How exactly should you categorize his music? Have fun with the questions. And rest assured that the constants in Eric Colville’s music are so strong that once you’ve heard a few of his songs, you’ll know exactly what “his sound” is.

Among his favorite influences, Colville lists Simon & Garfunkel, Mark Knopfler, Wilson Pickett, Brian Setzer, Ry Cooder, Bob Dylan, and the “Kings” (BB, Albert, and Freddie). The most important figures in his pantheon, however, will always be John, Paul, Ringo, and George. Perhaps as a result of growing up in the Florida Keys without TV and in range of Havana radio stations, Colville’s perspective on the world is somewhat unusual.

X-Ray Glases is a wonderfully crafted eight song EP with a great mix of tracks that are all very well balanced. The thing about Eric Colville is that he is a splendidly smart songwriter, and it shows through numerous occasions.

“DMMLY” is a great example of his lyrical prowess, and he never appears to miss a beat. An up-tempo soft rock-sounding track, complete with harmonica and claps, “DMMLY” carries you right along with its cheerful guitar strumming and its strategically placed supporting organ notes.

While his lyrics aren’t exactly groundbreaking for the most part, he does find creative ways to address his themes a la Bob Dylan. An apparent example of his exceptional skill is a “1000 Miles.” Along with the catchy drums and guitar, the lyrics about moving on after a tough relationship stand out. The guitar solo fits the mood perfectly and finds a place without being too distracting, offering a little extra bit of spice. Taking a different tone is “Remember to Forget,” with a noticeably simpler theme, though the rhythm and rhyme stay true to Colville’s formula. But this EP’s true winner is “X-Ray Glasses,” a catchy, country jazz-sounding track that could be a fantasy B.B. King/Bruce Springsteen collaboration. His true talent shines through the easy to follow lyrics accompanied by the even easier jazz background. Holy Fiction is the new project formed by members of Ethan Durelle, Pilot Drift, Hemyah, and A Pacific Model. Eager to create music that is both listenable and intelligent, Holy Fiction is currently crafting songs in a much different fashion than their former outfits.

On February 23, Holy Fiction released their first full length album, “Hours From It”. “Hours” was crafted from a concise batch of songs that were both personal and vibrant. Their music is as angular as it is rounded, lingering as it is succinct, effortless as it is strenuous; like a desert flooded after a storm.

The diversity of Josh Garrels’ music represents the textured patchwork of both the nature and nurture of his upbringing. The roads that draw the map of his life trace through various stops. At one time or another, Garrels has been a “son of a hippie commune, skater boy, suburban drug dealer, music/design student, coffee roaster, urban shepherd, and now nation- and globe-trotting minstrel of hope and healing.”

As he reflects back on those experiences and contemplates the way forward, he leans into his faith, his family. His new album, Love & War & The Sea in Between, serves as the canvas onto which he sketches those thoughts in musical forms. Regardless of one’s own stance on matters of such import, the album is a gorgeously transcendent collection of songs. Garrels is the first to offer that people don’t have to agree with his beliefs to dig his tunes.

And he’s right. So much of pop music, these days, is overflowing with nothing more than ego and posturing. When an artist steps out of that mold to offer something truly of themselves, the impact is felt in ripples and waves. Anyone in search of music that speaks to their better angels, as it were, would do well to check out Love & War & The Sea in Between.

NoiseTrade: Some artists make the same record over and over. You don’t do that. You continue to explore and expand with each new work. Do you think what holds some people back is a lack of imagination? Talent? Courage?

Josh Garrels: I think the key idea that you hit upon is that of “exploration.” Imagination, talent, and courage all require an inquisitive spirit to be the power source in propelling us forward. There are infinite variables and configurations to explore within any one song – from melody to performance to engineering – and as a writer/performer/engineer, I’m always searching for what will make each song emerge as a unique entity. The thing about exploring is that you hit a lot of dead ends, but when you find something that works, it’s exhilarating. Without a fascination with unexplored possibilities, the creative process grinds to a halt and, sadly, we’ll end up repeating ourselves as we camp out on the grounds of familiarity and safety.

NT: Explorations of longing in poetry and song are some of humanity’s most beautiful expressions. You contribute your fair share to the lot. As the Sufi poet Rumi wrote, “Everything has to do with loving and not loving.” Do you think that’s a fair assessment?

JG: I think so. Yet, the word “love” itself is so hard to pin down in our culture, that that quote could mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people. For me, “loving” would be defined as a selfless giving of oneself for the sake of others, without condition of reciprocation or return. As faulty humans, we experience this truly divine form of loving sporadically, and, for some, it’s never experienced at all. Most mass culture and media culture are driven by the precepts of “not loving,” which would be withholding ourselves from each other, exploiting others, and demanding our rights in return. Yet we’re made for loving, so we live with a deep longing that continues all our lives. When a song or poem truly reminds us of what we all know is there, we can’t help but respond.

NT: Do you find that people are hungry for musical connections – and other interactions – that address life’s larger questions? That invoke and relate to something deeper in themselves? After all, there are no “baby, baby, baby” lines in your tunes.

JG: For sure. Ultimately, I think that all people, either consciously or subconsciously, are drawn to the arts, because art speaks the language of the soul. And every soul is searching for connection to transcendent answers to life’s over-arching questions: Who am I? Why am I here? What happens when I die? Is there a God? These are some of the questions that form every person’s worldview, and how we answer these affects how we navigate life. As Pete Seeger says, “[there are] people who say that music is just an attempt to make life live-able. It’s true to a certain extent, that’s one of the purposes of music – to help you survive your troubles, help distract you from your troubles. But some music helps you understand your troubles, and as you see here … some music can help you do something about your troubles.”

NT: Your sound is a hybridization of Citizen Cope, Sufjan Stevens, M. Ward, and Jose Gonzalez – but, in some ways, is more accessible than any of them. Do you ever consider making your lyrics more broadly inclusive in order to reach a wider audience?

JG: It’s an honor to be compared with the likes of those guys, for I’ve got ‘em all in my iPod. I’ve always known that choosing to explore the intricacies of my faith in Christ would be a potential disconnection for many listeners. Yet, I’ve been compelled to do so, not out of a sense of obligation or to proselytize, but because when I’m honest with myself … I can’t escape how interesting, mysterious, and life-changing the whole thing is. I turn these things over in my mind and heart a lot, and the songs become a sort of tool or vehicle for me to flesh out what’s happening within. I do this as much for me as for the listener. I think to abandon this subject matter for the sake of being palatable to more listeners would be dishonest, both to myself and to them. I think it’s authenticity that people listen for first. I can connect with songs from Black Sabbath, The Sex Pistols, Prince, or Polyphonic Spree without being compelled to believe what they’re singing about. Yet, I’m compelled to listen because they’re believable.

NT: The monetization of art is an interesting topic. Why have you stepped away from that model by offering your new album for free? How do you see the intersection of art and commerce evolving in the future?

JG: A few things came to play in my decision to give away this latest album for free. First, I asked my fan base if they would be willing to help fund the project on the front end, and their response to this invitation was awesome. Because of fan-based funding, I was able to finish the project without going into debt. (Every other project I’ve done has put me in debt $10-12,000 … which then is paid off with album sales.) I had no hole I needed to fill in with this album, so to speak.

Second, this may sound weird to some, but at a crucial moment near the completion of the album I sensed God ask me, “Will you give this one to me?” It was actually a hard choice for me. The practical man in me pondered the ramifications of this decision for not only myself, but also my wife and two children. But then, if you think God might be asking you to do something, you kind of know what the right answer is the moment the question’s asked. All this to say, giving the album away wasn’t some high-risk promotional idea I dreamt up. It was actually never my intention. Yet, the fact that the work was already paid for (by others!) set me up to let go of it seamlessly, and demand nothing in return. Now, on the flip side of the decision, it’s been such a joy to give away something that was so precious to me. I feel like I blindly stumbled into a wonderful new way of approaching my vocation and the transmission of my work. Just as there are limitless possibilities in regards to how to craft a song, I’m learning there are new and creative ways to be a working artist in the global marketplace.

BIO: Good Man’s Brother

Good Man's Brother is a relatively new name to the local music scene but the story of this band actually begins nearly 10 years ago when Lead Guitarist/ Vocalist, Billy O'Con and Bassist, John Mallard first met.

"I'd just lost a bass player and John had just lost a gig", says O'Con. "We were introduced through a mutual friend and have been playing together ever since". That's often the way these things work out, a couple of random occurrences, a fortuitous introduction and, next thing you know, you've got something going on. So it was for these two.

Mallard tells us that, "Over the years, Billy and I have had a LOT of different musicians on stage with us and we've played under a few different names. We were 'The Yardcats', 'The Convix', we even played for nearly five years as 'The Executives' while backing legendary Blues and Mo-Town Diva, Betty Lewis. But, through it all, Billy and I were always the constant".

Flash forward to early 2009. O'Con and Mallard had gotten a nice big taste of the Festival Stages while playing with Betty Lewis and decided that putting together a Powerhouse Trio and marketing the Festival Scene would be something they'd love to try. "Ya know", says O'Con, "it never mattered who we were with or how many people we had on stage with us, we have always really shone in the Festival setting. We figured, why not? Let's give it a shot".

The only thing they were missing was a Drummer. "Over the years, Billy and I had played with some absolutely MONSTER drummers. Of course, as luck would have it, we were at this time rotating two different guys who, for various reasons, were unable to commit full time", says Mallard.

Enter another fortuitous introduction to long time Shreveport veteran Ron Petitt. "Yeah, we really hit the Jackpot with Ron", says O'Con. "From our first gig with him after just one rushed rehearsal, it just fit".

And so, here we are. The first reaction that people typically have when hearing this Trio for the first time is to look around for the other three musicians that surely must be hidden somewhere. These guys have such a HUGE sound that there's no way it should be coming from just three guys. But it does. The Music ranges from the old to the not so old and is a great blend of Funk, Texas Blues, and just good old fashioned in your face Rock-N-Roll.

"We don't have any gimmicks", says Mallard. "we're just three guys doing what we truly love to do. It's simple, it's honest, and it connects". Connect, it does. And it does so in a very LARGE way for such a very small band.

BIILY O’CON: Guitars / Vocals

When you say the name Billy O' Con anywhere in the ArkLaTex one thing comes to mind. Magical hands. Well, maybe two things. Magical hands and a voice that sounds like no one else's. When you say Billy O'Con in Natchitoches and surrounding areas another thing comes to mind. The Legend. The Icon. Of course, Billy will quickly(and humbly) tell you that he's no legend. His friends and fans will tell you otherwise. They will tell you that they proudly dubbed him The Legend at a very young age when he was playing every gig in Natchitoches and impressing people with his magical hands and distinctive voice. Billy picked up his first guitar at age five and never put it down, except of course, to trade it in for bigger and better or older and truer. The Icon has impressed some pretty impressive names in the music industry and, to his credit, has built up a list of very diverse accomplishments. The good news is, Billy O'Con just keeps on gettin' better and better and has no intention of ever giving up his passion. The Legend = GREAT SOUND and a TRULY MOVING MUSICAL EXPERIENCE !

JOHN MALLARD: Bass Guitar

John Mallard's musical journey began at the age of 7 when his late father bought his first guitar. 37 years later his journey still continues. He played his first professional gigs at the age of 13 and, by 16, was doing Call-In Work as Tubist with the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra. He spends all of his Stage Time these days strapped behind a Bass Guitar. He's a founding member of Good Man's Brother and has played with Lead Guitarist/ Vocalist, Billy O'Con for nearly 10 years. Together, they formed two thirds of Betty Lewis' back-up band, The Executives, and played throughout the South Central United States. John also did time as the Session Bassist at Bossier City recording studio, Precision Digital Audio. "Those years were probably my most musically educational", John says. "On any given day I never had a clue what I would be doing until I showed up and started doing it. It definitely taught me to be versatile".

John can be found these days laying down the Bottom in Good Man's Brother with O'Con and Drummer, Ron Petitt. "I love this band", he says. "There are no gimmicks. no distractions. It's just three guys doing what they truly love to do. I think that's a big part of what people are connecting with". Whatever it is people are connecting with, there is definitely something going on with this band. We'll leave it up to you to hear it for yourself.

RON PETITT: Drums

Ron Petitt has been playing drums in the Ark-La-Tex music scene for the last 25 years. He has anchored the rhythm section for such bands as Open Eyes, Tangent, Double Duce, 3 Chord Truth, Chris Solomon Band, The Eric Craig Band, Identity Crisis, String Theory, Jerry Beech, The Core, Derek Gustafson Project and Double 11 just to name a few. Ron often gets the call when a live drummer is needed if one of his many local musician buddies has a spot to fill. Stylistically there is not much Ron hasn't experienced on the drums. From Heavy Metal to Jazz Swing, he has done it all. Now with Good Man's Brother, Ron is getting to utilize that experience. G.M.B. covers such a wide variety of styles and genres. "What makes it even better", says Ron, "is that this band knows when to jam on a song rather than just attempting to duplicate the radio."

When he is not busy playing he enjoys being out on the scene supporting his many friends on their gigs and making new friends as well.

Radio Days are Italy's answer to the pure Powerpop perfection, an ideal mix between the beatlesque melodies of the sixties and the seventies punk energy.

They know how to combine the sounds of early Elvis Costello, the Rubinoos' vocal harmonies, Big Stars' scretching determination and the Knacks' easy listening melodies.

Born in 2003 as a side project of the Retarded (historical Italian punk rock band which played more than 300 shows all over Europe and two US tours), Radio Days succeed in being one of the best Italian Powerpop bands, creating a personal style and focusing on an intense and active live show.

After a S/T album out in 2006, Radio Days turning point was the release of the "Midnight Cemetery Rendezvous" EP by Insubordination Records from Baltimore, USA.

The EP was critically acclaimed and gave Radio Days the chance to play 70 shows around Italy and Europe, playing internationally important festivals such as "Purple Weekend" in Leòn, Spain, "International Pop Overthrow" at the historical Cavern Club in Liverpool, "Lee Rocks" in Firenze and "Pop Circus" in Milano, sharing the stage with bands like the Rubinoos, Blues Magoos, Rakes, Maccabees, Good Shoes, Those Dancing Days, Teenagers, Marky Ramone, Frank Popp Ensemble, Squire, Chixdiggit, Mcrackins and many others.

All of the hard work that the band has put into touring and promotion has earned them considerable respect internationally.

In late 2008, Radio Days toured Italy with the Paul Collins Beat, an experience that left both with a lasting impression and an opportunity to release a split 7" out for Surfin' Ki! Records with the seminal Powerpop outfit in 2009.

In march 2010 Radio Days hit the studio to record their second album "C'est La Vie".

Recorded at Elfo Studio in Piacenza by Daniele Mandelli, "C'est La Vie" is the record which moves Radio Days towards the full musical maturity, consecrating them as one of the best independent Italian bands.

The record will be released October 15th.

Tannen Records will release the CD version and will take care of the digital download for Italy, Surfin' Ki! Records will release the vinyl version and Insubordination Records will release the CD in the USA.

"C'est La Vie" promotional shows will start with a 18 shows European tour.

Life tends to give us what we want…but never how we expect it.

Witness phenomenal Vancouver, B.C. singer/songwriter Billy The Kid. Culled from the same passionate ambrosia that spawned musical greats such as Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Bragg and Elvis Costello, this golden throat has been accosting the world of music for years with her refined craftsmanship, bold musical talent, extraordinary songs and overt beauty—aesthetically and aurally—epitomized on latest EP The Lost Cause (Lost Records).

As The Kid will admit however, while initial goals of success were envisioned as a collective, Life had other plans in store. Recognizing her innate abilities, it prodded her towards independence and therefore greatness.

“My parents put me in piano lessons at eight. I hated it,” she notes, admitting that despite a sour introduction to music compounded by her difficult early life as a foster child who left home at 12, creativity quickly took over her life. “I’ve been playing solo for as long as I can remember. I started learning to play guitar in the corridors of my high school and my first show was around 16 years old. I had a band but any time the band couldn’t show up, I’d still take the gig. Any chance to play, I’d take it.”

Grasping those opportunities eventually thrust Billy The Kid into many unexpected spotlights. From punk rocker to pianist, folk crooner and eventually label owner (founding Lost Records in order to support poignant underground music), all of these experiences culminate in the striking and powerful experience that is The Lost Cause, a call-to-arms for individual thinking, personal pride and refusal to relent.

“I’ve always liked all sorts of music and I’ve always played all sorts of music,” she notes about her musical diversity. “I grew up in punk but always loved roots and folk. Songs, really. Any song with a story or a life of it’s own were always my favourites. I’ll still put out rock music and write songs on pianos because at the end of the day, they’re all songs, aren’t they? That’s the thing about The Lost Cause and those whom adhere to it. It’s about finding your own way regardless of what others may think.”

Contextually, The Lost Cause is founded on The Kid’s desire to stay rooted, natural and sincere. Compelled by her struggles as a genuine artist constantly confronted by masked jackals both personally and professionally, The Kid never finds herself with a lack of inspiration, deeming The Lost Cause to be culled from one particular emotion:

“Honesty,” she declares bluntly. “I write a lot about hard times. There seems to be a lot of inspiration for that these days. There is a lot of music out there that is made to make money. It doesn’t really stand up for much. I strive to stand up for what I believe in; don’t really care about what musicians are ’supposed to do’ in order to succeed.”

“My hope is that this thirst for honesty is what attracts our supporters,” she continues. “People are smart. They know they’re being advertised to and music is just the soundtrack to the pop star commodity which takes away all credibility. I’m independent through and through. I believe in throwing out the map and finding my own way.”

Considering that The Lost Cause was produced by Raine Maida (Our Lady Peace, Kelly Clarkson, Hillary Duff, Avril Lavigne) and boasts a vast array of legendary talent including pianist Garth Hudson (The Band, Bob Dylan), drummer Randy Cooke (Ringo Starr/Dave Stewart), guitarist Ben Peeler (Jacob Dylan/The Wallflowers) and harmonica player Stan Behrens (Ruth Brown, The Four Tops) it’s safe to say that Billy The Kid was never off course.

In fact, amassing accolades faster than one can keep count, The Lost Cause is becoming a blueprint of its own for heartfelt music: attaining the Number One position on Much Loud’s charts, The Kid being hand-picked to perform as a part of the legendary Warped Tour, featured Indie Spotlight/Folk Music Spotlight on iTunes Canada, an MSN Sympatico Indiscover Featured Artist, nominated for XM Radio’s The Verge Artist of the Year, holding the top two positions on Earshot’s college listings, radio and television support, winner of three Georgia Straight Reader’s Choice Awards and more. The Lost Cause has certainly found itself at the top of the musical Mecca.

Still, with The Kid’s congenital musicality, professionalism and spirit comes a healthy dose of humility. Gracious, she is thankful for The Lost Cause’s distinctions yet refuses to let them throw her off balance. Instead, they prompt her to sets sights even stronger on the ultimate goal: creating the music in whatever fashion Life has in store.

“The main goal always has been and always will be to just keep on keeping on,” she smiles. “I’m here to spread the Gospel of The Lost Cause; make music for whomever will lend their ears to listen.”

If we’ve met, you’ll know that I have the words “GIVE BACK” and “LOST!” tattooed on me.

Anyone that doesn’t know me is prone to ask the meaning of these words, forever inscribed into my body. “GIVE BACK” speaks for itself, but “LOST!”… well, that’s another story…

When I was 14 I started playing in bands. I picked up guitar at 12, 4 years after my parents put me in piano lessons and I instantly began creating my own music. Eventually I’d end up behind a drum set because no I knew could play them and even further down the road I’d teach myself harmonica while driving around in my 15 passenger van (The “Lost” Bus).

Music. I was in it for the long haul before I even knew it. How was I to know it would become my life? It’s nothing you can prepare yourself for. All I ever felt like I knew was that at 12, 18 and even 24 years old it was the binding force that got me out of bed, carried me through my days and got me through those tough nights.

At 18 I got together with a group of friends and we started calling ourselves Billy the Kid and the Lost Boys. It was a name that seemed to convey the spirit of the project and our manifesto; at the time we were living under a credo of quotes and mantras that read like a time line and became the soundtrack of our lives. It was our way of surviving amidst the mishaps of independence, by throwing out the maps that resulted in a conventional lifestyle and embracing a fierce determination to find our way (even if others deemed it to be a “Lost” Cause).

Little did I know that the term “Lost” would consume not only my vocabulary but my adopted way of life: There’s Lost Records, the label I started to put out our second album that now houses 9 acts and 12 releases and operates as a collective of friends running under the motto “Kids in Bands Helping Kids in Bands”. There’s the Lostice, or Lost Office, where I’ve spent years booking not only my own projects but any friend who needed a helping hand, as well as promoting new musical endeavors and preaching the gospel of the Lost Cause. There’s the Lost Bus, which has taken me a great number of miles beyond what I expected it would and now, there’s the Lost Youth Music Society.

Once I began embracing the path that I had chosen, as random and sometimes meandering as it may seem, it dawned on me that perhaps to be a so-called “Lost Cause” isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I began meeting kids across the country who felt the same way I did…they believed that we could find our own way and change the definition of “Lost”. Now, if you’re down with the Cause, you’re LOST! and it’s a darn good thing.

It was with the help of these exceptional people, the crew who are down with the Lost Cause and my amazing family, that I began to realize it was now my turn to give back. I’ve been so fortunate during my time on this planet that I’ve always felt as if there’s got to be something MORE that I can do. So, we’ve started a charity that is going to GIVE BACK, using the power of music to inspire and enhance the lives of kids who might not be as fortunate as we are right now. With the help of donations, music lessons, instruments and a scholarship program we’ll find the Lost Causes out there and help them to find their own way. Remember, it’s a good thing.

BIO: Wayside Drive

Wayside Drive is a US indie group comprised with singer and multi-instrumentalist Jeremy Osborn; singer, bassist and cellist Natalie Osborn and drummer Kevin Robinson. Their sound draws on several musical genres including indie, electronica, and world music. They are based in Houston, Texas.

Their first full length studio album “The Red Room” was released in 2006 followed by “The Other Side” in 2010. The stems for each new song are also released to be remixed by anyone who is interested.

The band was featured on a tribute CD to Jandek titled “Down in a Mirror” along with such greats as Jeff Tweedy (founding member of the band Wilco), Eric Gaffney, and The Mountain Goats

Full of passion, pain, love, hope, and years of toiling away amidst the undercurrent of indie artists, Isaac’s music grasps at the heart-strings of a generation that has chosen to find a new path, a new way to live…

Since 2005, Isaac has toured the country sharing the music that defines his life. Driving from town to city and back again, from Seattle to LA to New York and everywhere in between, people have gravitated to his incredibly honest story-telling, haunting melodies, and soulful voice. Comparisons are to be taken with a grain of salt, but his voice and music share qualities with Ray Lamontagne, John Mayer, James Morrison, Amos Lee, and even Tracy Chapman.

Isaac recorded his first two albums, “Perfect Accident,” and “Dreams Away” beneath the daunting Grand Teton mountains, in several locations around the beautiful valley known as Jackson Hole. The song “Float,” which was co-written with his long-time friend and first producer Noah Waldron of Capsicum Productions, found it’s way into several small movies and reached #1 on myspace’s pop music chart.

His third album, “Throw A Line,” was recorded in various locations around the country. For a few of the tracks (Falter, Run, She’s Gone), Isaac enlisted the production help of former Grammatrain and Accident Experiment front man Pete Stewart. All three albums are available on iTunes.

The Jackson Hole native currently resides in Nashville, TN, making preparations to record his first professional studio album. Hard at work writing new material, the buzz has begun to grow in music city… keep an ear out for this talented young artist on radio stations near you.

BIO: Afterlife

For a band that has existed for under 1 year, it feels a little unnecessary to write a made up, exaggerated and over the top band biography. So to keep it short and sweet...

Afterlife was started in February of 2011 by 5 individuals who enjoy writing and playing music.

The band is Al Reilly on Lead Guitar, Pete McCoy on Vocals, Steve Reilly on Bass, Stewart Brown on Rhythm Guitar and Iain Statton on drums. On the writing of this mini bio we have released a small number of songs online in the hope that others enjoy listening to them as much as we enjoy playing them. Our plan is to continue writing the music we want to play and create an album that we are completely proud of.

Leading out of 2011 and into 2012 we have every intention of playing these songs live where ever we can.

In the 1820's during the Greek War of Independence "Freedom or Death" became the war cry for the people of Greece. Their passion, belief and desires were so strong, that they accepted no substitute. The Toronto based duo adopted that name, as it's their mantra when it comes to their music. "We want to have the freedom to make the music and the artistic choices that we want. If we can't have that freedom, we'd rather not put anything out, which is the death of our art" says Fernandez, one half of the production and songwriting unit. Freedom Or Death's sound is based in everything, acoustic folk, electronica, traditional rock, hip-hop rhythms yet always rooted in lyrics with substance. "We didn't want to get caged into any kind of pigeonhole," Sway says. "That's our freedom, to make the music however it comes out. We have two different sensibilities to making music that clash, but it's how we actually reconcile them that's interesting."

With the release of their self titled EP, they're creating and making music their way. The two of them met while working at a major record label and have a solid understanding of how the music industry works. "We know what sold, we know how to make it, but we decided not to make it. We created an artist record", Sway says. "We decided we wanted to make music that we would like to listen to, regardless if it gets played on the radio or not." Within three months of writing they had come up with an album's worth of material and in true fashion, Freedom Or Death assumed all creative control; every song was written, produced, recorded and performed by the duo. Yet while they have proven they're self contained there is a strong desire to work with like-minded artists. "We are more interested in working with a collective of artists, rather than being a silo unto ourselves," Fernandez says. "Our artwork is being done by artists that inspire us, our videos are being shot by directors that we want to work with."

Fernandez was classically trained as a pianist and has been a DJ for over a decade, while Sway has been a driving force as a vocalist and songwriter behind various bands, musically Freedom Or Death's sound is eclectic, yet their approach to lyrics is clear. "We posed the question, are we going to write lyrics that resonate with a mass amount of people or are we going to write music from our heart?" Sway asks. "We decided to write things that had a truth to it. The lyrics are a really huge part, they're not always the last part, but for me if there's no lyrics for a song, the song stops."

With a strong and steady creative process, stopping is the last point on Freedom Or Death's agenda, they plan on touring, as well as another EP in the near future. As long as the band's ideals of their art come first and commerce taking a back seat hold true, they will continue to make the music they want to make for as long as they desire.

The new disc is a pastiche of stories collected from years of traveling, and covering new territories, both physically and metaphysically. Paying homage to her lost heritage, May Flower is Sarah’s personal pilgrimage through the North American landscape, and the solitude of mind. Produced by Andre Skinner (of Canteen Knockout), and featuring the talent of Matt Blackie on drums and backing vocals, Andre Skinner on bass, Grady Kelneck on mandolin, Olesh Maksymiw on guitar and pedal steele, as well as many special guests, the new disc is raw, sweet, and sure to please.

BIO: The Rudeness

The Rudeness was originally conceived while the band toured the Mid-West on Warped Tour a few years back.

At the time, The Rudeness were a full on Pop/Punk band called M-80. That band accomplished plenty, including national touring, national distribution, national publishing deals and a huge fan base, all of which were gained as an independent artist. Their releases “Put Down The BB Gun” and “Don’t Take It Away” are still available.

The boys were feeling tired of playing Pop/Punk and looking to get back to their musical roots. Having all come from the coastal region of Rhode Island, Reggae and Ska are a huge influence on their musical taste.

Rhode Island has a little known hot spot where surfers go to listen to Reggae and Ska music. It's a bar called the Ocean Mist and it sits right on the Atlantic Ocean. There is a point break just beyond the back deck of the bar. You’d think you were in Hawaii if you stumbled in there and you might see the likes of Eek-A-Mouse, Buju Banton or Sizzla performing on any given night. That club holds the sound and the true spirit of what The Rudeness are about.

The boys longed to calm things down and get back to the sounds they remember while hanging out at the Ocean Mist. This year the boys finally formed The Rudeness and they don’t plan to look back.

Armed with a brand new 5 song EP Produced by Scott Begin (Scotty Don’t / Badfish), The Rudeness are ready to take it to the next level once again.

About the Boys

Singer/Guitarist Jonny Safford’s ability to write hooky Reggae tinged tunes shines brightly on this new collection of songs. He writes about real life, relationships and un-employment…..all subjects anyone can relate to. His sense of humor cuts through the beautifully arranged vocal and guitar harmonies with ease and spirit. Nothing feels fake or forced, its simply real life.

Guitarist Hank, Bassist Handsome Joe and Drummer Pablo hold down the rock solid rhythm while The Wolf adds delightful sax melody just when needed. The mixture allows for plenty of originality and performance quality, but still retains the overall sound.

What started as a Pop/Punk band in the vein of the Offspring (as M-80) has morphed into a commercially viable, fun, groovy Reggae and Ska tinged Rock band in the vein of Sublime and 311, but with an original twist.

The Rudeness are back to their roots.

Back to that beach bar where they all met while hanging out and listening to Reggae.

Yea, nasty album but was it better than the first? You can argue that is wasn't but i think when it came to production and beats this album exceeds the first by a mile. Well that's just what i think (laughs).

Although not better than his first album the Brick this still goes hard. Production is crazy and beat selection was great. Joell covers the hood, drugs, life, and his high school sweet heart in this album.

Oh My God, this album was a masterpiece. With Dj Premier producing half the albums the production was amazing. Royce shows his story telling ability and his bars are on point 90% of the album. The other 10% was wtf.......lol

Random Axe the new "super group"

Hip hop has a new "super group" and it's not Slaughterhouse. The group has two artist from Detroit and one from Bk. Sean Price has always been nice but very underrated just like every other emcee I talk about. Black Milk is a Mc/producer and he has a great ear for beats and songs. Guilty Simpson is the only one out of the three I never really heard of but after listening to one of his mix tapes I fucks with him. BIO: Friends of Emmet

Originally from Dublin, Ireland, FRIENDS OF EMMET (F.O.E.) are now based in Los Angeles, CA. They will be releasing their debut single “Coming Apart” in Ireland in late May. All proceeds from the Irish Sales will go to Console/1 Life.

The band will appear on several high profile T.V shows to coincide with the release. The song "Coming Apart" is a tribute to Kevin Hines Kevin Hines (HBO's The Bridge),, who attempted suicide at the age of 19 and survived jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge.

Hines is one of the few to ever survive the suicide plunge from 245 feet above the water and is now an advocate for several suicide prevention organizations. Upon hearing about Hines' story, the band found themselves inspired by the turn of events and wrote "Coming Apart" in his honor.

The video for the track was filmed on location in downtown Los Angeles & also features Kevin Hines. The video was featured on CBS Sunday Morning in October 2010 as part of a Suicide Prevention segment featuring Kevin Hines and "S.A.V.E." (Suicide Awareness Voices of Education.) Mark Leddy (Vocals) has also performed three songs at the Yahoo! Music headquarters in Santa Monica, CA.

The official video for "Coming Apart" is also slated to be featured on Yahoo! Music's New Video Station in the coming weeks. In addition to "Coming Apart" getting National exposure on television and radio in the U.S, “FRIENDS OF EMMET” were also tapped with a Hollywood Music in Media Award Nomination for the single's video.

The Hollywood Music in Media Awards recognizes and honors the music in visual mediums, the talented individuals responsible for creating and placing it, and the music of both mainstream and independent artists from around the globe for their compositions and recordings in all forms of media including film, TV, video games, commercial advertisements, movie trailers and music videos.

In Late September the single will go on sale in the USA & Canada where proceeds will go to Suicide Prevention / S.A.V.E & Collateral Damages. A National tour will coincide with the release.

The first time i heard Sav Killz i was like this is something impressive. I was on Fulton street working and he walked up to me with a Cd and decided to let me hold it because he saw how much i loved real hip hop. We chopped it up for a few and he put me on some of his songs. When i got home i popped the Cd into my player and listen to a few of his tracks. I became a fan after four or five of his tracks. You can tell he is Wu influenced and he has that O.D.B voice with greater lyrically ability. Not only can this dude rhyme but he is also very humble. Plainsong is included in Paste Magazine's 'Eight Criminally Underrated Albums From 2009' list and listed as one the top 50 albums from 2009 at www.amiestreet.com.

Susan Enan released her debut album 'Plainsong' in 2009. In 2006, while demoing songs for the record, Enan began receiving worldwide attention after her track "Bring On The Wonder" featuring Sarah McLachlan, appeared on the second season of the Fox show Bones. The song was also featured on the shows soundtrack two years later. It took another 6 months to wrap up the record proper which features Enan's remix of "Bring on the Wonder" along with 9 other tracks.

In June 2010 Sarah McLachlan recorded her own version of "Bring On The Wonder" for her seventh studio album Laws of Illusion. Susan is currently embarking on a worldwide house concert tour called "Bring On The Song".

Enan grew up in Cambridgeshire, England. After moving to Liverpool to study music, she began playing the local singer songwriter scene. It was during these years she discovered a love for film scores and the simple, yet intelligent, folk songs of Woody Guthrie.

'What I liked about Woody Guthrie was the reason he wrote and how that informed his writing style. It had to be simple so the political songs could be easily remembered for the sake of the cause, yet the songs where also very smart. I love that combination in art: simplicity that goes right to the soul but doesn't have to bypass the brain on the way.'

After leaving Liverpool she moved to Northern Ireland and continued to write and record a few small EP's released locally, but it was the Moonlight EP (2003) which began to get more attention internationally. It led to an opening slot on a three month US tour with Ohio based band 'Over the Rhine' which in turn led to a signing with Nettwerk Management and a move to New York in 2005. By this time, she had all the songs that would become Plainsong but finishing the record was still a way off.

'Yeah, what with one thing and another it did take time but there were always encouraging signs along the way, like the Bones show picking up 'Bring On The Wonder'. All those things really helped to keep the momentum going.'

The self-produced record was recorded in 5 different countries, much of it in Enan's small home studio in Brooklyn. It was finally released in July 2009 and features co-production from Alan Bezozi, musical appearances from Ashwin Sood (drums), Steve Schiltz (guitars), Graham Maby (bass), and vocal appearances from Declan O'Rouke and Sarah McLachlan. It was mixed in London by Alan Branch and mastered by Jon Astley.

Plainsong is now available both as a digital download and on CD from the online store at www.susanenan.com where Enan and her parents are mailing out the discs from New York and her home village in England.

'BRING ON THE SONG" HOUSE CONCERT TOUR.

In January 2010, Susan decided to take a short vacation to Nashville, TN. Hearing that 'house concerts' were becoming more popular she wrote a post up on Facebook asking if anyone would like her to give a concert in their home while she was in town.

After an overwhelming response from all over the US and further a field, and the success of the show in Nashville, she wondered if it would be possible to travel the world stopping off along the way to give concerts in people's houses, video blogging the journey.

With enough of her fans signing up for the experience she bought a video camera to fim the journey and began plotting the routes determined by where the fans lived.

The first stops were in Europe and England in May 2010. in the summer, Susan drove 10,000 miles around North America with the camera gaffer taped to the dashboard of a car so she could film as she traveled. She gave concerts in 22 towns and cities along the way including at a Cathedral in Texas, on a porch in Kansas and on a rooftop overlooking Chicago, beginning the concert at dusk and ending with the moon high over the city skyline.

She filmed her adventures; from traveling down the Mississippi, to milking her first cow at the Ohio State Fair; from driving through New York City along 42nd Street, to oyster fishing in the small English town of Whitstable.

The British tour in the Autumn of that same year was a 3,000 mile trip as far North as Rafford near Inverness, down to Mevagissey in Cornwall. She played 13 houses, 1 inn, and on an air force base, after a squadron leader wanted to a concert there. She traveled through England, Scotland and Wales, down Lochness, through thr Glencoe mountain range, along Hadriend's Wall and over the notorious Hardknott Pass in the Lake District, once again with the video camera taped to the car.

Susan has just finished the tour in Australia and New Zealand, including performing a house concert for one of the communities in Christchurch, which was heavily affected by the recent earthquake that destryoed much of the city.

In April and May she will be back in Europe traveling from Porto in Portugal to the city of Tromso in Norway, only 2,000 kilometers from the North Pole. And then another trip around the UK.

The intimacy of these concerts along with the video blogs accompanying the journey make the "Bring On The Song" worldwide house concert tour a truly unique experience, and the road trip of a lifetime.

BIO: Arnold McCuller

Arnold McCuller is an American vocalist, record producer, born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. While establishing his own career as a singer, and working as a very busy session musician, McCuller has become best known for his work as a back-up singer for famous artists with long careers, including Phil Collins, Beck, and Bonnie Raitt, and Todd Rundgren. He has toured for thirty years with James Taylor[1] and is an audience favorite for his featured vocal parts on the songs "Shower the People", "I Will Follow", and "Is That the Way You Look". He has also toured extensively with Collins and is one of the main lead vocalists on the live version of "Easy Lover". McCuller has had numerous acting parts in films; in particular he has gained notoriety in movies with musical roles. In 2010 McCuller joined the Troubadour Reunion Tour supporting James Taylor and Carole King.

Film:

McCuller appeared in the film The Sum of All Fears singing the "The Star-Spangled Banner". Although he did not appear onscreen in Duets with Huey Lewis and Gwyneth Paltrow, his vocals were blended with those of actor Andre Braugher to make a composite singing voice for the character "Reggie Kane". In the film, Reggie Kane sang with Paul Giamatti on "Try a Little Tenderness" and performed a acapella version of "Freebird".

McCuller also performed the song "Nowhere to Run" for the 1979 film The Warriors and was one of the four singers in the "guitar duel sequence" on the 1986 film Crossroads.

Bill was raised in a musical family in rural Alberta. When he was 2 years old, he was known to sleep behind the piano at country dances. His parents played dance music in community halls in beautiful farming country. The love of nature and of music and of people gathering for celebration has been with him for his whole life.

Bill loves to collaborate with friends (musicians). His most recent collaboration is with Jasmine Ohlhauser and Wyckham Porteous in the band 'bop ensemble'. Previous to bop ensemble, Bill collaborated with Eivør Pálsdóttir from the Faroe Islands. He produced and performed on Eivør's third solo CD, 'eivør'. The recording won double at the Danish Music Awards Folk in 2006. Other collaborations: with Alan MacLeod, Shannon Johnson, Hans Staymer and Andreas Schuld, and Lester Quitzau & Madagascar Slim, as well as his solo projects, have all attained award status in Canada.

The blues genre and form is omnipresent, and like a womb it has nurtured and given birth to distinct genres and subgenresurban styles, delta blues, Chicago blues and boogie-woogie, to name a few. Many musicians are known to play a form, or a subgenre, that has spawned from the blues, but very rarely do you stumble across a true blues musician, like Art Bell, who embodies the genre and form of the blues in its entirety.

Art Bell has had music in his soul since he was five-years-old. At the age of 12, after cutting grass all summer, Art saved up enough money to purchase his first guitar from a jazz musician, named Fleet Green, who owned a music store. I never go anywhere without a guitar these days, says Art while sitting across from me in a local Thai restaurant, in Charlotte, NC. Art has since lain to rest his first guitar and now performs with three friends he likes to call, Miss Fender, Miss Gibson and Miss Rickenbacker. Besides for being a guitarist, Art is also an accomplished vocalist, bassist, percussionist and keyboardist.

I have been a performer for about 43-years, and through the years I have become a better listener and a well seasoned musician, song writer, lyricist and composer, says Art who has composed over 300 original tracks.
